On 5-6 February 2020, the Creative FLIP IP team from the Intellectual Property Institute Luxembourg (IPIL) visited Ljubljana, Slovenia and held an IP Thinkshop and IP Clinic targeted at interested creatives from the city and its vicinity.
The thinkshop and individual support desk were part of the two-day event on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights organized by the Centre for Creativity (CzK) of Slovenia, in the context of their programme “Creative Accelerator”. This is an Associated Programme of BIO26 – the 26th Biennal of Design, run by the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana.
Complemented with a series of lectures by international and local experts, the thinkshop and help desk were aimed at creatives, who are wondering how they can protect their creative works, how does the process work when it comes to shared authorship, how to protect IP rights in a licence agreement, what kind of IP protection routes exist for creative practices, how to make most of the IP rights and how the Slovenian government helps with that process.
Held at the beautiful venue of the Museum of Architecture and Design, the first day was organized in a plenary format, with many interesting presentations but also interactive discussions among all those present. The individual support desk on the second day allowed the creatives to ask for advice on their specific situation in the unique space of Andovscina underpass – a previously abandoned landmark of the city recently renovated and reused for the BIO26 exhibitions.
